Another great game to play with your students called 'Mr.Krab's Circle'

Hello fellow Heroes (Teachers)!

It's been a while now that I haven't post any games to share with you because lately I been busy like all of you would do. LOL. Anyway, that long holiday from blogging really worth it though because I came up with this game which I called it 'Mr. Krabs Circle'. Yeah, you know Mr.Krabs from spongebob squarepants series. The name made it all clear that the game is so simple to play but worth having fun with your students and this is how the game works:

Equipment: Nothing
Place: Can be indoor or outdoor, just make sure the area is cleared from any harmful objects.
No. of students: 15 - 20 students [maximum]
Skills involve: co-ordination & reaction
Locomotor skills: walking and running sideways
Excitement: 60% - 75%  for lower primary (Tested)

Instructions & Rules to set
  1. Firstly, make your students to form a perfect big circle.
  2. Secondly, instruct them on how the game works. Basically, they just need to walk or run like a crab would do but they need to hear our voice command first. lets just say "walk like a crab to your right!" which means your students would have to walk like a crab to their right but still in a form of circle. Lets just say again "run like a crab to your left!" which means your students would have to run like a crab also to their left but still in a form of circle.
  3. The fun part is that you need to set something which ensures they don't want to make it happen like if any one of them bumped into their friends either to the left or right, they have to be punished.
  4. The punishment should not stress your students. think of any punishment that they still would enjoy playing like singing or etc.
  5. The game can be ended by our own free will or by students satisfaction.
Safety Rule
  • make sure the area for playing is spacy enough.

How to handle 'unmotivated' students in P.E class?

Fellow Heroes! (Teachers)

Something just strucked into my idea of how we p.e teachers handle such 'unmotivated' students. the term unmotivated often to our understanding is such as 'not sporting'. Yes, of course it can be mean almost everything. But most of the time from my experience of teaching, let's just say that we're in the same box here that the student is 'unmotivated' meaning 'don't want to do it' for certain locomotor skills that we teach in class. So how are we going to tackle such behaviour?

Here's a list of teachers reactions towards unmotivated students
  1. "What?! You don't want to do it?!" *slap* *dush* = (Aggressive cannibal)
  2. "You don't want to do it? Fine" = (Ignoring fool)
  3. "Okay, Don't want to do it, give me 100 push ups instead" = (Ego trader)
  4. "I don't wanna hear any excuses just do it!!" = (Nazi strict)
  5. "Hey class, your friend here don't want to do it because he/she's a coward!!" = (Unprofessional)
  6. "I give you $1.00 if you do this for me" = (Bribe of the year)
  7. "You're a loser, a pathetic, get out from my class!" = (mr/mrs. always perfect)
Are these reactions necessary at all? Of couse! It can be very effective. But to our senses it's a No-no rite? I have to admit I do acted some of the reactions above before but it didn't help my class at all. So what I'm saying here is that to tackle such behaviour in our class:
  • why don't we just encourage them slowly but still firm of our main objectives.
  • be patient as always and let them try the skill again and again until he/she NOT we but he/she is satisfy.
  • recreate another way of how the skill could be done easily by that student.
  • praise the student even the slightest improvement happened.
  • guide the student in every movement he/she made.
  • tell stories about people/ history/ events that could lead to a higher purpose of life.

Another Game Called The "Bean Bag Collector"

The Bean Bag Collector simply to say a very simple game but the excitement is far beyond imagine. The Tension, Peer Pressure, Teamwork and Determination are all in this one simple game! Seeing those happy, proud, sad and disappointment faces of those children really makes this one heck of an awesome game to play and it is most suitable for all primary classes from lower to upper.

How The Game Works?

Equipment: Cones, batons and Bean Bags
Place: Can be indoor or outdoor, just make sure the area is cleared from any harmful objects.
No. of students: 20 - 30 Maximum
Skills involve: pick and put (coordination)
Locomotor skills: running
Excitement: 75% - 85% (lower primary) and 65% - 75% (upper primary) [Tested]

Instructions & Rules to set
  1. Firstly, Divide your students in groups. Each group must have the same number of students.
  2. Secondly, placed the bean bags in one place where students can see them.
  3. Thirdly, placed the group students at each cones facing the bean bags.
  4. Fourthly, make sure each of the group are far apart enough for students to take turns when running picking the bean bags and the distance of 5 - 6 meters between your students and the bean bags.
  5. Fifthly, give each of the groups a baton. The baton is used for students to take turns while running picking up the bean bags and also to avoid unfairness and cheating in the game.
  6. Lastly, do a demo of how the game is played. Give a signal that the game is starting like "ready! 3, 2, 1 go!" or just use your whistle. as the game begins, only those who are holding the batons are allowed to run to pick up 1 bean bag at a time and put it at his/her group for counting later. Then its their friends turn to run pick up the bean bags until there's no more bean bags left. group with most bean bags is considered the winner.

An Awesome Game Called 'Water & Ice'

Hello Fellow Heroes!(Teachers)

A great day with a brand new game to share with you which I called it the "Water and Ice" game. (Well, students actually called it first) Basically, this game is actually improvised from an old game we called it in the old days the "Tag! you're it!" game. What makes it more exciting is that if you're being tagged you have to act as if you are freezed rock solid with all weird looking postures. (kids these days are really creative with their minds). Also, you have to wait for someone to tag you back and shouts "water!" which means you're free to move any where you want. So this game basically really gets your heart pumping like you were running away from a chasing car and it proves to be very fun to play from lower to higher primary classes. Try it! :)

How The Game Works?
Equipment: Just cones to mark your area of playing the game.
Place: can be outdoor and indoor. make sure the place is spacy and cleared from any harmful objects.
No. of students: 15 - 25 students (maximum)
Skills involve: Tagging (Coordination)
Locomotor skills: Running
Excitement: 85% - 100% (Lower Primary) & 75% - 90% (Upper Primary) [Tested]

Instructions and rules to set
  1. Firstly, set 4 cones to make a perfect, wide square area.
  2. Secondly, choose a student to be the 'tagger' and the rest will be the victims of the tagger.
  3. Thirdly, instruct the tagger to say 'ice' when he/she touch or tag someone and the rest of the class say 'water' when he/she touch their friends that have been frozen.
  4. Fourthly, rules: those who are frozen by the tagger must not move or else be the next tagger, the tagger must not purposely push or tickle his/her frozen friends just to make he/she the tagger.
  5. Lastly, goal of the game: wait till they're exhausted but having fun. :)
Safety
  • Make sure the area is free from any harmful objects
  • Make sure the area is quite spacy for the students to run around.

Another game called "Fireball!"

Fellow Heroes (Teachers)!

Now I'm thinking of sharing this game called the Fireball. The game basically almost similar like Dodgeball. So what makes it different? The name? (Yeah, Mr/Mrs. Obvious) LOL. Absolutely not. How the game works is what makes it totally different not just the name. So, Lets get started. Sharing Time!

How The Game Works?!
Equipment: Cones and a soft Ball
Place: Wide square clear area. can be at the open field & also indoor like your school's gym.
No. of students: 20 - 30 (maximum)
Skills involve: Throwing (coordination)
Locomotor skills: Running
Excitement: 80% - 90% (Tested)

Instructions and Rules to set
  1. Firstly, place four (4) cones on the open field/area to make a perfect square.
  2. If you wish, you could place as many cones as you want to see the square clearly.
  3. Secondly, choose a student from the class to be a thrower and the rest will be in the square area.
  4. Thirdly, instruct your students how to play the game: the thrower has to be outside the square at all times and throw from the outside. if the thrower did hit one of his/her friends, then he or she must join forces with the thrower from the outside of the square and can be a thrower also.
  5. fourthly, the goal of the game is to wait until there's no student left in the square.
Safety:

  • To ensure students safety while playing, use only soft ball.
  • Make sure the area for playing the game is cleared and large enough for students to run around.
  • If indoor, make sure any breakable stuffs are cleared away from the playing area.

A new game to play: "My Ball!"

Hello Fellow Heroes (Teachers)

Another game I would like to share here is what I call "My Ball!" The game is a bit the same like Rugby but what makes it different from the Rugby is that this game doesn't need any positions like the wings or backs and etc. Simply to say, let them have it!

How the game works?
Equipment: One ball needed.
Place: Open grass field. Example: Soccer field.
No. of students: 5 - 6 (maximum) per one ball.
Skill involve: Pulling (Strength)
Locomotor skills: Running
Excitement: 60% to 75% (Tested)

Rules to set
  1. The ball must be held by the P.E teacher first.
  2. Let the students hold the ball with two hands, but NOT Pulling it yet.
  3. Set your rules in playing the game such as: No pushing, No kicking or punching, No tickling.
  4. If your rules are not obeyed, then punish them lightly like jumping stars for 12x times.
  5. The teacher let go of the ball then stand 10-20 meters away from the students.
  6. Instruct by shouting "3,2,1 start!" which means the game is starting and the students react.
  7. Goal of the game: one of them must successfully pull out the ball from the crowd, then reach the P.E teacher as fast as they can.
Safety:
  • Teacher must be cautious of the game because it could turn out to be one heck of aggressive game.
  • Be strict of your rules and punish lightly to those who don't obey them.
  • Setting rules can make the game as safe as possible.
  • If you feel the game isn't going well with what you have planned, stop it immediatelly.
